• What is your connection to the island of Bora Bora?

  After a few lead members of our team took a trip to the island...they were so inspired by the spirit and purity of the place, that they returned to create our company and products around that same way of life:

• Where is Bora Bora?

  Bora Bora is one of the Society Islands of French Polynesia. It’s located at latitude 16° 27'S and longitude 151° 45'W. To get here from Los Angeles, you’ll fly south/southwest for approximately eleven hours.
  

• To what country does Bora Bora belong?

  The concept of “country” may seem a bit strange when applied to Bora Bora, but it, along with 117 other islands make up the county of French Polynesia.

• Do Bora Bora bars contain ingredients native to French Polynesia?

  Our goal is to use as many ingredients as possible from French Polynesia. We begin by trying to source these ingredients directly from the French Polynesian islands, however, we must also meet the highest quality, organic standards. Currently, at least one key ingredient comes from the South Pacific.

• What is the form of currency used on Bora Bora?

  The Comptoirs Francais du Pacifique franc (CFP). Or in English, the French Polynesian Franc.

• Do Bora Bora products contain preservatives, or artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors?

  No, no, no and no – and they never will. Bora Bora bars are certified organic and all-natural.

• What is organic?

  Organic refers to the way agricultural products-food and fiber-are grown and processed. Organic food production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic and persistent pesticides and fertilizers. Organic foods are minimally processed without artificial ingredients, preservatives, or irradiation to maintain the integrity of the food.

• What does "Certified Organic" mean?

  USDA qualifies "Certified Organic" as 95% organic or more. You can NOT apply the USDA organic seal on packaging unless the product is 95% organic or more. This means the item has been grown according to strict uniform standards that are verified by independent state or private organizations. Certification includes inspections of farm fields and processing facilities, detailed record keeping, and periodic testing of soil and water to ensure that growers and handlers are meeting the standards which have been set. 

• Why is organic food better?

  There is mounting evidence at this time to suggest that organically produced foods may be more nutritious. Furthermore, organic foods and fiber are spared the application of toxic and persistent insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and fertilizers. Many EPA-approved pesticides were registered long before extensive research linked these chemicals to cancer and other diseases. In the long run, organic farming techniques provide a safer, more sustainable environment for everyone.

• Do Bora Bora products contain gluten?

  No, and not only are Bora Bora bars gluten-free, they’re also non-GMO, many are vegan, kosher and have a low-glycemic index with no refined sugar.

• Why are Bora Bora bars available in three families?

  We know a lot about real food, and that different foods have different natural effects on the body, so we asked people what kinds of benefits they wanted from food and made a Bora Bora family for each – Antioxidant-live Long, Superfood-Feel Great and Energy-Get Going.

• Will Bora Bora products include more than bars?

  Yes, please look for our healthy, functional, nutritional beverages coming soon.

• What is the company doing to help the environment?

  Bora Bora Ltd. donates 10% of the profits from our products back to initiatives that support sustainable farming, renewable energy resources and minimize our waste. All our corrugated packaging supports and uses wind power and is sourced through the Forest Stewardship Council, an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization established to promote the responsible management of the world’s forests. • Are Bora Bora bars vegan?

  Yes, all but our Exotic Coconut Almond and Paradise Walnut Pistachio. While these two bars are certified organic, they’re sweetened with organic honey, instead of vegan agave nectar.

• What sweeteners are used in Bora Bora bars?

  We sweeten our bars with organic fruits, organic agave syrup, organic honey and organic brown rice syrup.

• Why do you use organic agave syrup?

  Agave syrup (or nectar) has only recently been discovered as a sweetener. It has a low glycemic level and is a delicious alternative to table sugar. Agave nectar contains no processing chemicals and, it can be very useful for people who are diabetic, have insulin resistance or are simply watching their carbohydrate intake.

• Why are your bars so sticky?

  Agave syrup (or nectar) does not crystallize during the baking process like cane syrup or raw sugar, therefore, it remains soft and moist for maximum flavor and taste.

• Are Bora Bora bars Kosher?

  Yes, all our bars are certified Kosher by The Union of Orthodox Jewish Congregations.
